Ramuc Clean & Prep Solution – Pool Paint Surface Prep
Ramuc Clean & Prep is the one-step surface preparation for painting a pool. It cleans and degreases while dissolving mineral deposits, and it opens up the surface so new pool paint bonds properly. It replaces the traditional three-step TSP, acid etch and TSP process. It's also safe near plants and grass, odour and fume free, and biodegradable.
Prep is the single biggest factor in how long pool paint lasts. Poor prep is the leading cause of peeling and blistering.

Where to Use It
Bare concrete, gunite, marcite and plaster, bare fiberglass, and previously painted pools. Use it before any Ramuc pool paint: Hi-Build Epoxy, EP Epoxy, A-2 Rubber or DS Acrylic.

Application temperature: 10–29 °C (50–85 °F). Storage: do not let it freeze. Store above 10 °C (50 °F).
Directions
- Repair first. Complete all surface repairs, then power wash off any loose paint and debris.
- Mix with water at the ratio for your surface.
- Apply evenly with a garden sprayer.
- Scrub right away. As soon as it foams, scrub with a stiff-bristle brush or broom. Focus on the waterline, steps and high-traffic areas. Don't let the solution sit or dry.
- Triple rinse with a garden hose on a strong, steady stream while scrubbing. Do not use a power washer for rinsing. Rinse everything at once, and don't let the solution dry between rinses.
- Let it dry, then test. Before applying solvent-based pool paint (epoxy or rubber), run the condensation test on the paint label to confirm the surface is fully dry.
Safety: contains phosphoric acid and can burn skin and eyes. Wear safety goggles, rubber gloves and protective footwear.

1Do I need to clean and etch my pool before painting?
Yes. Oils, algae, chalk and mineral deposits stop paint from bonding. Poor prep is the most common cause of peeling and blistering.
2Does Clean & Prep replace muriatic acid and TSP?
Yes. It replaces the TSP, acid etch and TSP process in one step, with no acid vapours, and it's safe near plants and grass.
3How much Clean & Prep do I need?
About 1,000 sq. ft. of pool surface needs roughly 3 gallons for bare concrete or plaster, or 2 gallons for a painted or fiberglass pool.
4Can I use it on a fiberglass or painted pool?
Yes. Use the weaker mix of 1 gallon to 5 gallons of water.
5How long after cleaning can I paint?
Once the surface is completely dry. For epoxy and rubber pool paints, that usually takes about 5 dry days. Confirm with the condensation test before painting.
6Can I power wash to rinse it off?
No. Rinse three times with a garden hose while scrubbing. Use the power washer only for removing loose material before you apply it.
7Can it clean pool filter cartridges?
Yes. Soak the cartridge in 1 gallon mixed with 5 gallons of hot water for at least an hour, then rinse.
