How to test
Test like a designer.
- Paint two patches, each about 2 × 2 ft, with two coats. One tester does about four. Small dabs are too small to judge.
- Or paint a board. Use white poster board, so you can move it around the room and hold it beside trim, floors and furniture.
- Test on more than one wall, especially one by a window and one in the darkest corner.
- Let it dry fully. Wet paint looks darker. Give it an hour, or better, overnight.
- Look morning, noon and night, with lamps on as well as daylight. Live with it for a day or two.
- Pick your winner, then order it in the paint and finish that suit the room.

How many colour samples should I order?
For one room, 2 or 3 of your top picks. If you’re choosing between similar whites or greiges, 3 to 5 helps you see the difference. For a whole home, order one per room colour and test each one in its own room.
How much does one sample cover?
One 240 mL tester covers about 4 × 4 ft with two coats, or four 2 × 2 ft patches. That’s enough to test in two or three spots in a room.
Can I order several colours at once?
Yes. Search or tap each colour and it goes into your sample list above Add to cart. Add them all to your cart in one go, and each colour comes as its own tester.
Can I pick up my samples?
Yes, and it’s free. Choose pick-up at checkout and collect them at our Rockwood Village store, 1292 Eglinton Ave. E, Mississauga. Most orders are ready within 4 hours.
Do you ship samples?
Yes, we ship across Canada. Shipping is calculated at checkout.
Will the sample look exactly like the paint I buy?
It’s tinted to the same Benjamin Moore colour formula, so it shows you the true colour. The finish you choose for your walls can change how it reads a little. Higher sheens look slightly richer and show more light.
Can you sample a colour from another brand?
Yes. In the colour box, choose “Matching another brand?” and type the brand, colour name and number. We’ll match it and confirm before tinting. How colour matching works.
Can I return colour samples?
Samples are tinted to order, so they’re final sale.
