Benjamin Moore colour guide
Benjamin Moore gathered its best whites from across its history into one collection of 152 Off-Whites. Here's how to choose between them, from crisp Chantilly Lace to soft White Dove, from the team that mixes them every day.
How to choose a white
There's no single "best" white. The right one depends on your room, your light and what it sits next to.
Every white leans a little: cool (grey or blue), warm (cream or yellow) or neutral. Undertone shows most next to other whites, cabinets and countertops.
North-facing rooms get cool, bluish light that can make whites look grey, so warmer whites help. South-facing rooms get warm light that makes creamy whites look yellow.
Light reflectance runs from 0 (black) to 100. Off-Whites range from 58 to 90. Around 80 and up reads clearly as white; lower reads as a soft neutral.
A chip looks lighter than a full wall. Narrow it down with swatches, then paint a large tester patch and check it morning, noon and night.

The question we hear most
When a swatch isn't enough
Whites are the hardest colours to judge from a chip. A tester pot lets you paint a real patch and live with it for a day.

Questions
It's Benjamin Moore's collection of 152 whites and off-whites, numbered OC-1 to OC-152. Benjamin Moore built it by gathering the best whites from across its history and other collections into one place, so you can compare them side by side.
All of them. Benjamin Moore makes every Off-White Collection colour available in all of its products, from Aura and Regal Select to ben and its exterior lines.
Chantilly Lace (OC-65, LRV 90.04) is one of the brightest, cleanest whites Benjamin Moore makes, with almost no undertone. White Dove (OC-17, LRV 83.16) is softer, with a gentle warmth. Chantilly Lace reads crisper and cooler; White Dove reads cozier and more forgiving.
It depends on your wall colour and light. Crisp whites like Chantilly Lace keep trim sharp against most colours. Softer whites like White Dove or Simply White sit more comfortably next to warm walls. Hold two or three swatches against your wall colour before you decide.
LRV (light reflectance value) measures how much light a colour reflects, from 0 (black) to 100 (pure white). The Off-Whites run from about 58 (Hazy Skies) to 90 (Chantilly Lace and Simply White). Higher LRV looks brighter; anything around 80 or above reads clearly as white.
Light changes everything. North-facing rooms get cooler, bluer light that can make whites look grey; south-facing rooms get warm light that brings out yellow undertones. A small chip also looks lighter than a full wall. That's why a tester patch is worth it before you commit.
