Wooster FAQ
1Which Wooster brush is best for cutting in?
Choose a firm angle sash. Gold Edge and Ultra/Pro Firm are all-round picks. For the sharpest lines, try Ultra/Pro Extra Firm or Chinex FTP. A 2 in. or 2-1/2 in. angle brush suits most trim.
2Which brush gives the smoothest finish?
Wooster markets Silver Tip as its smoothest finish. It uses soft CT polyester filaments and suits walls, furniture, doors and trim. A thin angle sash or varnish style works well for cabinets and clear coats.
3What roller nap should I use?
Match nap to texture. Wooster suggests 3/16 in. or 1/4 in. for smooth surfaces such as new drywall, and 3/4 in. to 1-1/2 in. for rough or textured surfaces such as stucco, siding or block. Wooster lists 3/8 in. as its semi-smooth nap, which suits most painted walls.
4Pro/Doo-Z or Super/Fab: which roller cover?
5Can I use the same brush for stain?
Bravo Stainer is made for oil-based stains, sealers and wood toners. Chinex FTP is listed by Wooster for all paints and stains. Check your stain label, and use a separate brush for oil and water-based products.
6What is the difference between Sherlock and Sherlock GT poles?
Both lock at set lengths. Sherlock GT has a hexagonal inner pole that prevents twisting, and its quick-click system snaps tools on. It includes a conversion tip for standard threaded tools. The Sherlock pole has a metal threaded tip.
