Shop swimming pool paint from INSL-X and Ramuc: epoxy, rubber-based, acrylic and waterborne coatings for concrete, plaster, gunite, fiberglass and steel pools. The most important rule is to match what's already on your pool. Epoxy only goes over epoxy or bare surfaces, and rubber goes over rubber. Waterborne goes over almost anything in good condition.

Swimming Pool Paint FAQ

1What's the best paint for a concrete pool?

For bare concrete, epoxy is the most durable. Ramuc Hi-Build suits rough or pitted surfaces, and INSL-X Epoxy or Ramuc EP suit smoother ones. If the pool is already painted, match the existing coating.

2Can I switch from rubber or acrylic pool paint to epoxy?

Only after the old coating is fully removed down to the bare surface. Epoxy won't bond over rubber-based or acrylic paint.

3What if I don't know what paint is on my pool?

Check old receipts or cans first. INSL-X Waterborne goes over any type of pool paint in good condition, or contact us and we'll help you figure it out.

4Which pool paints work in saltwater pools?

INSL-X Epoxy, Rubber Based and Waterborne are all rated for salt water. Ramuc recommends its epoxies, EP and Hi-Build, for saltwater pools.

5Can I paint a fiberglass or steel pool?

Yes, with epoxy. INSL-X Epoxy works on both fiberglass and primed steel. Ramuc EP and Hi-Build work on fiberglass. Rubber-based, acrylic and waterborne paints aren't for fiberglass or steel.

6How long does pool paint last?

It depends on the type, the prep and your water chemistry. Ramuc rates Hi-Build Epoxy at up to 8 years, EP Epoxy at 3–4 years, A-2 rubber at up to 4 years and DS acrylic at up to 2 years.

7How soon can I fill the pool after painting?

Most outdoor pools need 5–7 dry days (7 days for INSL-X). Indoor pools need 10–14 days. Ramuc DS acrylic is the fastest at 3 dry days.
