Graco FTx 288429 Airless Spray Gun, 2 Finger Trigger, RAC X
The Graco FTx 288429 is a manual airless spray gun for everyday contractor work. It has a 2-finger trigger, comes with a RAC X 515 SwitchTip and guard, and is rated to 3,600 psi. Replacement parts are available, including needle kit 288488.
Key Features
- FlexSeal needle: a fully enclosed needle that Graco says lasts 70% longer.
- Less spitting: the seat sits closer to the tip. Graco says this removes 60% of the dead space between needle and tip.
- Modular needle: comes out through the trigger cross pin and front housing.
- EasyGlide swivel: dual-seat design that cuts sealing friction.
- Handle and filter: form-fitted handle, trigger lock and a trigger guard that swings clear to reach the filter.
Where to Use It
Use it with an airless sprayer and hose rated for at least 3,600 psi, for interior and exterior painting jobs. Pick the tip from your paint's data sheet. Not for air-assisted or HVLP systems, and never without the tip guard and trigger guard fitted.
What's in the Box
- FTx 288429 gun with 2-finger trigger

FTx 2-Finger vs 4-Finger

Setup & Use
- Relieve pressure: sprayer off, trigger lock on, pressure at lowest, prime valve to PRIME, then trigger the gun into a pail.
- Fit the tip: seat the gasket and seal in the guard, insert the tip and hand-tighten the nut.
- Connect the hose to the gun swivel with two wrenches. Graco says not to spray with less than 25 ft of hose.
- Prime, then raise pressure only until the spray is even. Never exceed 3,600 psi.
- To clear a clog, turn the tip to the unclog position, trigger into a waste area, then turn it back.
- After each shift, flush the gun, clean the filter (it slides out the top of the handle) and wipe the outside.
FAQ
1What does the 515 tip number mean?
The last two digits are the orifice in thousandths of an inch, so 515 is 0.015 in. Thicker coatings need a larger orifice. Check your paint's data sheet or contact us for tip help.
2Which sprayers will it work with?
Any airless sprayer and hose rated for 3,600 psi or more with a fitting that suits the gun's 1/4 NPSM swivel inlet. Not sure about yours? Contact us with the model.
32-finger or 4-finger trigger?
Both are FTx guns rated to 3,600 psi. It comes down to how the trigger feels in your hand. Try both if you can, or ask us.
4The gun drips or won't shut off. Can I repair it?
Clean the filter and tip first. If it still leaks, Graco's manual 311861 lists needle kit 288488 for FTx guns. It replaces the needle and diffuser.
5How often do I clean the filter?
Graco says after each use. Pull it out through the top of the handle and brush off debris. Replace it if it is damaged.
6Can I spray in cold Canadian weather?
Follow your paint's minimum temperature. Graco's maximum material temperature is 120°F (49°C). Keep paint and the gun warm, and do not leave water in the gun. Store it dry.
7What warranty does it have?
Graco's manual gives 12 months from the date of sale for defective parts. Graco requires proper installation and care. Contact us if you have a claim.
