Interior Paint FAQ

1How much interior paint do I need?

Most Benjamin Moore interior paints cover about 350–450 sq ft per 3.79 L per coat. A 12 × 12 ft bedroom with 8 ft ceilings has about 340 sq ft of wall after doors and windows, so two coats take about 2 gallons.

2What's the difference between ben, Regal Select and Aura?

ben is the value choice, zero VOC and easy to apply. Regal Select adds better washability and stain release for busy rooms. Aura is Benjamin Moore's top line, with the richest colour and best durability.

3Which finish should I use in each room?

Flat or matte for ceilings and low-traffic rooms, eggshell for most walls, satin or pearl for kitchens, bathrooms and hallways, and semi-gloss for trim, doors and cabinets.

4Do I need a primer?

Not usually on previously painted walls in good condition, since ben, Regal Select and Aura are paint and primer in one. Prime bare drywall patches, stains, glossy surfaces and big colour changes.

5What's the best paint for a bathroom?

Use a mildew-resistant finish made for humidity, like Aura Bath & Spa or Kitchen & Bath. To refinish a tub or tile, use Klenk's Epoxy Enamel.

6Can you match a colour from another brand?

Yes. We tint Benjamin Moore paint to any of their colours, and we can match colours from other brands. Enter the colour name and number when you order.

7What's the best paint for kitchen cabinets?

INSL-X Cabinet Coat and Benjamin Moore Advance both dry to a hard, smooth finish. Clean, scuff-sand and prime first for the best bond.
