Ultra Spec SCUFF-X is Benjamin Moore's one-component latex paint for high-traffic interior walls. It uses patented scuff-resistant technology, withstands repeated washing and dries to the touch in 1 hour. There is no mixing or short pot life. Choose Matte, Eggshell, Pearl or Semi-Gloss.

Application Guide
- Prep. Clean off dirt, grease, wax, soap, loose paint and mildew. Dull glossy areas.
- Prime where needed. Bare drywall, wood, plaster and metal need a suitable primer. Use Fresh Start High-Hiding All Purpose Primer on plaster and wallpaper. Most sound, previously painted walls need none.
- Stir well and box (intermix) cans for large areas.
- Cut in, then roll with a premium roller.
- Second coat after 2–3 hours (Semi-Gloss: 4 hours) if needed.
- Season. Apply at 10–32 °C. In winter, heat and ventilate the room; cool, humid air slows drying.
- Wait 2 weeks before washing or using cleaners.
FAQ
1How much SCUFF-X do I need?
A 3.79 L can covers 350–400 sq ft per coat. A 40 ft hallway with 8 ft walls on both sides has about 640 sq ft. Two coats is about 1,280 sq ft, so plan on one 18.9 L pail or four 3.79 L cans.
2Is scuff resistance the same as washability?
No. Scuff resistance is how well the paint resists marks from rubbing and bumps. Washability is how well it handles cleaning. Benjamin Moore says SCUFF-X offers both and withstands repeated washing.
3Where should I use SCUFF-X?
Use it in school and office hallways, stairwells, lobbies, gyms and restrooms, and in homes with kids or pets. It is for interior use only and not for floors.
4Do I need a primer?
Most sound, previously painted walls don't need one. Bare drywall, wood, plaster, masonry and metal do. Benjamin Moore recommends Ultra Spec 500 on drywall. Contact us for the right primer for your surface.
5Which finish should I choose?
Matte hides wall flaws. Eggshell suits hallways and offices. Pearl suits stairwells and locker rooms. Semi-Gloss suits doors, trim and columns.
6How many coats does it need?
Benjamin Moore lists one or two coats. Plan on two for even colour. Wait 2–3 hours between coats (4 hours for Semi-Gloss).
7When can I clean the walls?
Wait 2 weeks after painting before washing or using cleaning products.
