Penofin Pressure Treated Wood Stain – One-Coat Penetrating Oil
Penofin Pressure Treated Wood Stain (Green Label, 250 VOC) is a penetrating oil stain made for pressure-treated lumber. It contains sustainably harvested Brazilian Rosewood Oil that soaks into and stabilizes the wood fibres, gives 99% UV protection and is a one-coat formula in three natural tones. It doesn't form a film, so there is no peeling.

Where to Use It
Pressure-treated decks, fences, railings, outdoor furniture and other exterior wood. Not over paint, solid stain or other film-forming finishes. Wood treated with a non-Penofin product should be chemically stripped first.

Application Guide
- Clean new wood. It can carry transport and construction dirt and mill glaze. First Step Prep cleans lightly and removes mill glaze.
- Clean old bare wood with Pro-Tech Cleaner. Add Pro-Tech Brightener if it has greyed or darkened.
- Strip non-Penofin finishes with an acrylic stripper such as Pro-Tech Stripper, then clean and brighten.
- Check conditions. Apply at 7–26 °C with humidity under 85%. Don't apply to wood that is hot to the touch. Stir well before and during use.
- Apply a liberal coat with a brush, pad or plastic pump sprayer. Mask or tarp nearby surfaces.
- Wait 20–30 minutes, then wipe off the excess with clean, non-lint cloths. Unwiped oil dries tacky.
- Handle rags safely. Oily rags can ignite on their own. Soak them in water before disposal.

1How much do I need for a 12 × 16 ft deck?
The floor is 192 sq ft. At 175–300 sq ft per 3.79 L, one coat takes about 0.65 to 1.1 cans. Buy two cans if you also stain railings or steps, or the boards are rough.
2Does it really need only one coat?
Yes, this 250 VOC formula is a one-coat product. Apply a liberal coat, let it penetrate 20–30 minutes, then wipe off the excess. A second coat is for the 550 VOC formula only.
3How do I prepare new pressure-treated wood?
Clean off dirt and mill glaze with First Step Prep. Weathered wood needs Pro-Tech Cleaner, and Pro-Tech Brightener if it has greyed.
4Can I stain over my old deck stain?
Over Penofin or bare wood that has been cleaned, yes. If another brand's finish is on the wood, strip it with an acrylic stripper first, then clean and brighten.
